Dissertation Ellinor Frank
On Friday, 24 October at 10:15, Ellinor Frank, an industrial PhD student at Sweden Water Research and Lund University, will publicly defend her thesis titled “Microbial Source Tracking for Bathing Water Quality Assessment: E. coli and Bacterial Communities in Coastal Environment.”
Her research has examined:
- Whether bacterial levels in sediment from historical overflows, or other sources such as “standard” treated wastewater discharges, affect bathing water quality
- How microbial communities in sediment and bathing water change over several years
- Whether specific sources of faecal bacteria in sediment and bathing water can be identified
Her principal supervisor has been Magnus Larson from Lund University. Co-supervisors: Therese Jephson (VA SYD), Kenneth M Persson (Lund University), and Carolina Suarez (Sweden Water Research).
Faculty opponent is Professor David Werner, Newcastle University, United Kingdom.
