Site Visit for Colleagues and Stakeholders
Around 40 people braved the wind and spent an August morning learning about stormwater treatment when it was time to showcase the Värpinge Wetland to colleagues and other stakeholders.
Since its inception, the project has brought together a wide range of expertise and people from VA SYD, Sweden Water Research, Malmö University, Lund University Faculty of Engineering (LTH), and Envidan Sweden. It is also important to our wider network, including NSVA (North-West Scania Water and Wastewater Services) and members of Lund Municipality’s Environmental Committee. It was therefore a great pleasure to welcome everyone for breakfast rolls and a guided tour.
The Värpinge Wetland covers an impressive four hectares. It consists of a pre-sedimentation pond, from which the water flows into the wetland itself, as well as a pilot facility where different treatment technologies, filters and materials are being tested to evaluate how stormwater can be effectively treated in small areas.
